Description
Delicious chocolate pecan rolls that are perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup whole milk, warm
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup chopped pecans (lightly toasted)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for drizzling)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually add flour and cocoa powder to form a soft dough. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- For the filling, mix brown sugar, cocoa powder, chopped pecans, and melted butter in a separate bowl.
- Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (¼ inch thick), spread the filling evenly, roll tightly from one side, and slice into rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish to rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Make sure the milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
- You can adjust the amount of cocoa powder for a stronger chocolate flavor.
