Description

A delicious Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe featuring tender chicken breasts, savory ham, and creamy Swiss cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Pound chicken breast to flatten to 1/2″ or if large, slice horizontally.
  3. Season both sides with kosher salt and black pepper.
  4. Lightly dust each side with flour.
  5. In an oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and butter.
  6. Quickly pan sear the chicken on both sides until lightly browned, about 1-2 minutes each side.
  7. Turn off heat and brush each piece of chicken with divided dijon mustard.
  8. Top each piece of chicken with divided sliced ham and bake for 15 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven and top ham with Swiss cheese.
  10. Bake for another 5 minutes and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Note 1: Use thinly pounded chicken for even cooking.
  • Note 2: Be sure to use quality deli ham for the best flavor.
  • Note 3: Swiss cheese can be substituted with other types like Gruyere.
