Description

Delicious and fluffy apple fritters coated in cinnamon sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ cups diced and peeled apples (¼ to ½ inch diced)
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 Tablespoon butter (melted)
  • 3 cups vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, and sugar. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
  3. In a third mixing bowl, whisk together egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir gently, then fold in the apples until just combined. Don’t overmix the batter.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a Dutch oven or large stock pot over medium-high heat until the oil reaches 375°F.
  5. Meanwhile, combine the additional sugar and cinnamon in a bowl to roll the fried fritters in. Set aside.
  6. Using an ice cream or large cookie scoop (about 4 tablespoons), dollop about 4-5 batter balls into the oil; do not crowd the pan. Cook on each side for approximately 2 minutes (4 minutes in total) until golden brown. Remove from oil and set on a cooling rack lined with a paper towel. Continue until all batter is cooked.
  7. After the fried fritters have cooled just slightly (about 1-2 minutes), place them in the cinnamon sugar mixture and roll until completely coated. Remove and set aside until all are finished, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil temperature is accurate for the best frying results.
  • These fritters are best served fresh.
