Description

A delicious and hearty cheesy hash brown casserole made with ground beef, creamy sauces, and topped with melted cheese and crispy onions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (mined)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 10 ounces cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 pound shredded frozen hash brown potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup french fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Spray a 9” springform pan with nonstick cooking spray. (This can also be made using a 9 x 13 pan).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion and garlic until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat. Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika and mix.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and the milk.
  4. Start laying the casserole by placing a layer of the hash brown potatoes in the bottom of the pan. Top with half of the cooked beef mixture.
  5. Drizzle about half of the soup mixture over the beef.
  6. Sprinkle about ½ cup cheddar cheese and ½ cup mozzarella cheese.
  7. Add the remaining beef mixture.
  8. Add the remaining potatoes, and pour the remaining soup over the top of the potatoes.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove foil, top with the remaining cheeses and bake uncovered for an additional 15 more minutes, adding the french fried onions in the last 5 minutes of baking.
  11. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes before carefully removing the springform ring. Slice and serve warm!
