Description
Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls topped with cream cheese icing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
- Add melted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, and salt. Gradually mix in flour until sticky dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour.
- Roll out dough into a rectangle (1/2 inch thick). Spread melted butter over the surface, sprinkle cinnamon-brown sugar mixture evenly, then roll tightly.
- Cut into twelve pieces using dental floss or a sharp knife. Place cut-side up in a greased baking dish and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before frosting with cream cheese icing.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
- Let the rolls cool slightly before applying the cream cheese frosting for the best texture.
