Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 cup pastry cream or cream filling of your choice
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Mix well.
- In a small saucepan, warm the milk until it’s just lukewarm. Add the melted butter and stir well.
- Pour the warm milk mixture into the flour mixture. Add the eggs and vanilla extract. Stir until the dough begins to form.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Knead it for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Use a round cutter to cut out circles.
- Place the dough circles on a floured surface, cover them with a cloth, and let them rise for about 30 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place a few donuts in the hot oil and fry them until golden brown on both sides, about 1-2 minutes each. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Once cooled, fill a piping bag with your pastry cream. Insert the tip into the side of each donut and fill until plump and creamy.
- Finally, roll the filled donuts in powdered sugar while they are still warm.
Notes
- Make sure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
- You can use any cream filling you prefer, including chocolate or fruit-flavored.
