Description

Delicious donuts filled with creamy pastry cream, perfect for a sweet treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 cup pastry cream or cream filling of your choice
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Mix well.
  2. In a small saucepan, warm the milk until it’s just lukewarm. Add the melted butter and stir well.
  3. Pour the warm milk mixture into the flour mixture. Add the eggs and vanilla extract. Stir until the dough begins to form.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Knead it for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Use a round cutter to cut out circles.
  7. Place the dough circles on a floured surface, cover them with a cloth, and let them rise for about 30 minutes.
  8. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place a few donuts in the hot oil and fry them until golden brown on both sides, about 1-2 minutes each. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Once cooled, fill a piping bag with your pastry cream. Insert the tip into the side of each donut and fill until plump and creamy.
  10. Finally, roll the filled donuts in powdered sugar while they are still warm.

Notes

  • Make sure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • You can use any cream filling you prefer, including chocolate or fruit-flavored.
