- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup white onion (diced)
- 1 cup red bell pepper (diced)
- 1 cup green bell pepper (diced)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- In a large bowl, add the flour, baking powder, salt, milk, butter, and egg. Whisk it together, then fold in the shredded cheese until combined. Set aside.
- Heat a large 12-inch oven-safe skillet on medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, onion, and bell peppers; cook until browned. Drain any extra fat.
- Add the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, salt, red pepper flakes, tomato sauce, and ketchup. Simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
- If you don’t have an oven-safe skillet, pour the meat mixture into a 9×13 baking dish. Dollop the biscuit evenly over the top, spreading it out as best you can.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. Serve!
Notes
- Feel free to adjust the spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes.
- This dish can be topped with extra cheese before baking for an even cheesier result.
